Sheriff responds to downed plane on Avenue 12

The Madera County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a downed plane at around 12:29 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 22.

The pilot made an emergency landing in an open field on Avenue 12 west of Road 28 ¼ and Highway 99.

Both the pilot and his student were not injured.

The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.
