Updated cooling center information

In light of the triple digit heat hitting the area again, the Madera County Sheriff’s Office is releasing updated information concerning cooling centers

The County of Madera has established the following locations as cooling centers during times of extreme summer heat. The centers will be open the days and times of the week as indicated on the list provided below. Other centers may be opened on an “as need” basis and will be announced through the Madera County Sheriff’s Office. Centers are closed on holidays unless otherwise indicated.

Coarsegold Community Center, 35540 Highway 41, Coarsegold, CA 93614. 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Details: (559) 683-7953.

Yosemite Lakes Park Clubhouse, 30250 Yosemite Springs Parkway, Coarsegold, CA 93614. 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. daily. Details: (559) 658-7466. Water is also available 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday at the clubhouse office.

Sierra Senior Center, 49111 Cinder Lane, Oakhurst, CA 93644. 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Monday through Friday Details: (559) 683-3811.
