Sponsors sought for Smokey Bear Run

Sports Briefs for 8/1/13 edition of the Sierra Star

Corporate sponsorships from $250 to $4,000 are available for the 26th Smokey Bear Run/Walk that will be held Saturday, Sept. 28, at Bass Lake.

The event features children races, a two-mile walk, a two-mile run and a 10K. Proceeds from the event are going to many Mountain Area organizations that focus on the community through volunteerism, fire prevention and youth mentoring.

The 10K is one of 15 races in Central California where runners can earn points for the "Valley runner of the Year" award.

Madera County Sheriff John Anderson serves as race chairman with support from the Mountain Area Runners.
