Yosemite Bank reports drop box fishing

-- Madera County Sheriffs DepartmentJuly 9, 2013

Two bags with a string attached were discovered inside Yosemite Bank’s deposit drop box in Oakhurst Monday, July 8.

According to the bank, someone tried to steal money bags from a bank’s night deposit drop box using a string sometime between July 5 and 8.

A patch with a string attached was found affixed to the bags. It appears the string broke during the fishing expedition. However, it is not known at this time if the suspect was able to reel in any cash.

If anyone made a deposit at this branch sometime between July 5 and 8, they should check their accounts to verify that deposits have been posted.

Anyone who may have information is urged to call either the Madera County Sheriff’s Office at (559) 675-7770 or Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP.
