Excessive Heat Warnings through July 1

-- Madera County Public Health DepartmentJune 28, 2013

California is in Phase II of the State Contingency Plan for Excessive Heat Emergencies. The National Weather Service has issued Excessive Heat Warnings and Special Weather Statements Friday, June 28, through Monday, July 1, for the Central Valley, areas in Southern California and the East Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area. To access any heat advisories for your area, visit www.weather.gov

At this time, no local Emergency Operations Centers have been activated and there have been no requests for assistance. Local health departments are asked to monitor the heat situation and submit situation reports to advise the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and California Emergency Medical Services Authority (EMSA) of any heat-related health impacts. The electronic situation report tool is available in the Quick Links Section on the left-hand side of the CAHAN Home Page.

In addition to the link at the beginning of this alert, the State Contingency Plan for Excessive Heat Emergencies is available in the Alert Details Section of the CAHAN Home Page.

See www.BePreparedCalifornia.ca.gov website for tips on preventing heat-related illness.
