Roads to open, evacuations to be lifted near Carstens Fire area

According to Cal Fire spokesperson Karen Guillemin, all of the roads that were closed due to the Carstens Fire will be open to residents again later today, Thursday, June 20. All evacuation orders will also be lifted at 4 p.m. today.

The Carstens Fire in Mariposa County, which was caused by an unattended campfire, began Sunday, June 16, and forced 1,900 people to evacuate and threatened 800 homes. The fire has burned 1,660 acres and is at 60% containment.
