Some Mariposa County residents will be allowed to re-enter their homes tonight

According to the Mariposa County Sheriff's Department, beginning at 8 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, June 19, the Jerseydale/Mariposa Pines area and Triangle Road between Highway 140 and Darrah Road will be open to residents. Residents must bring proper identification to enter the area.

Buckingham Mountain Road and Carter Road remain under evacuation orders. Fire Service roads leading to and around the Carstens Fire will remain closed.

Domestic livestock and/or pets that are housed at the Mariposa County Fairgrounds can be retrieved between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m. Animals housed at the Mariposa County Sheriff's Animal Control Facility can be retrieved between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. If assistance is required, call (209) 742-4300.

Public Safety Officials continue to evaluate conditions in an effort to see that residents of the remaining evacuated areas can return home as soon as it is safe.
