Dedicated grand jury

Letters to the Editor - 6/20/13 edition

June 18, 2013

Dear Editor,

I've read you're published articles regarding the Madera County Grand Jury's critical report about the Madera County administrative office and Administrative Officer Eric Fleming's guest commentary — I have also read the grand jury report.

Mr. Fleming criticizes the grand jury stating that they relied on guess work, rumors and a handful of disgruntled employees to form their conclusions yet the grand jury states in their report that they interviewed many people over a six month time frame and have attended board meetings themselves where they witnessed Mr. Flemings behavior.

Criticizing, dismissing and trying to discredit the grand jury, their members and the Superior Court judge they report to for such a comprehensive report seems short sighted at best.

As a Madera County registered voter and citizen of this county for more than 50 years, I would like to thank the grand jury for their dedication, hard work and final report and apologize to them for the opinions of Mr. Fleming who is not a member of our county or our community. Mr. Fleming clearly does not understand nor appreciate your role.
