Robert 'Bob' Abner McKee

Robert "Bob" Abner McKee died May 6, 2013, at the age of 92.

Mr. McKee was a resident of North Fork for 34 years, formerly of Danville.

He was born Sep. 5, 1920 in Sargent, Neb. to Abner and Edna McKee.

Mr. McKee worked on farms during his childhood and joined a traveling carnival after graduating from high school.

He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as chief radioman on the USS Maddox. After he was honorably discharged, he spent several years working in the Business Machines division of the Friden-Singer Corporation in the Bay Area.

Mr. McKee and his wife Loretta purchased North Fork Hardware in North Fork in 1979, operating it until retiring in 1992.

The couple were active in the community and attended Little Church of the Pines and presently, Sierra Vista Presbyterian Church. In Danville, they attended Danville Presbyterian Church.

Mr. McKee is survived by wife Loretta; sons Bob, Mike and wife Arlene, Tim and wife Patricia, Matt and wife Wilma, 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service potluck will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 25 at Sierra Vista Presbyterian Church, 39696 Highway 41, Oakhurst.
