Jimmie "Big Jim" Lee Morris died April 23, 2013, at the age of 76.
Mr. Morris was a resident of Oakhurst since January 13, formerly of Myrtle Creek, Oregon. He also lived in Oakhurst for more than 12 years about 27 years ago, while working at the Strawberry Mine.
He was born Oct. 1, 1936 in Braman, Okla. to Ellsworth and Rosetta Morris.
Mr. Morris and his wife Barbara turned their Oregon home into a living-care facility that they managed for 10 years. He also worked at the sawmill in Oakhurst until its closure; as a handyman at Sierra Sky Ranch in Oakhurst; and assisting a milling lumber company in Oregon.
He enjoyed visiting yard sales, hiking and helping his wife pressure can and enjoy the vegetables and fruit in their garden. He also enjoyed playing in pool tournaments and playing jokes on some people, too.
Mr. Morris was preceded in death by wife of 40 years, Barbara Ann Morris.
He is survived by sisters Bonney Hunt and husband George of Montana and Janett Hubbard of Oklahoma; stepchildren Terry Rickards and husband Terry of Oakhurst, Nancy Forget and husband Paul, and Laura Saunders and husband Jeff; grandchildren Kristopher, Kevin, Kyle, Kimberlina, Karissa, Philisha, Patrick, Amanda, Joshua, Caleb, Sarah and Jessica; and 12 great-grandchildren, with another on its way.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 25 at Palm Memorial Sierra Chapel, 49269 Crane Valley Road (426), Oakhurst.
