Oscar 'Scotty' Irving Kludt

Oscar "Scotty" Irving Kludt died May 1, 2013, at the age of 90.

Mr. Kludt was a resident of Oakhurst for 35 years.

He was born May 19, 1922 in Alpena, S.D.

Mr. Kludt served in the U.S. Naval Service from 1942 to 1946.

His occupation was in social work.

He played baseball for 19 years as a pitcher in the open division in Lodi, Stockton and Fresno, winning 312 games and titles in all cities. He also played baseball in Oceanside while in the Navy."

Mr. Kludt enjoyed all sports, including football, especially Fresno State football, the 49ers and San Francisco Giants. He also enjoyed attended a writing class and church.

Mr. Kludt was preceded in death by parents Fred and Christina (Bittner) Kludt; wife Ann Kludt; children Rebecca Kludt and Sandra Kludt; stepson Chuck Hess; siblings Christian Kludt, Ida Travis, Leona Rempfer, Elmer Kludt and Doris Straub.

He is survived by daughter Kris Sayre and husband Bill of Clovis; stepdaughter Cher Tompkins and husband Flint of Coarsegold; siblings Esther Bartholomew of Lodi and Gladys Fandrich of Redding; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 18 at Mariposa Lutheran Church, 4469 Highway 49 South, Mariposa.
