'New Wrinkles' celebrates 25 years

-- New WrinklesMay 15, 2013

Central Valley performers will celebrate 25 years of Broadway-style revues with a retrospective show featuring the most requested numbers from previous years.

Of the original four nationwide senior companies, Fresno City College's New Wrinkles is the only active senior showcase company remaining in the country.

In addition to popular performance playbacks, many of the show's early alumni are scheduled to return.

"By building this year's entire show around the most popular numbers from the past 24 years ... we plan to recognize a number of our earlier performing alumni," said director Fred Bologna.

The setting for this year's show will be a birthday party enhanced by music and dancing, both spirited and reflective, befitting a celebration of 25 years.

The New Wrinkles venue includes 16 performances featuring more than 60 cast members, including North Fork's own Harlan Lang. All cast members are 55 years of age or older. This includes three seniors who have been with the show since it's inception in 1989.

For the 10th year, the New Wrinkles vocal coach and musical director is Dede Nibler with the entire production under the direction of Fred Bologna. This year's costumes will be supervised by Nancy Wayne and Judy Irvine.

The state-of-the art Fresno City College theatre, with not an obstructed seat in the house, has always been home base for the New Wrinkles shows.

Tickets for this year's show cost $16. Tickets are available at Fresno City College theatre box office and by phone at (559) 442-8221 or online at newwrinklesfresno.com. Box office hours are Monday thru Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The show's opening night will be at 7:30 p.m., Friday, May 24.

Details: Don or Pat La Mont, (559) 431-6444.
