Saddling up

-- Staff reportMay 9, 2013

If an old fashioned rough and tumble rodeo is any indication, the 61st Coarsegold Rodeo is proof that the American cowboy and cowgirl are alive and well.

About 3,000 attended the rodeo May 3 through 5 at the Bohna Arena on Raymond Road (415) in Coarsegold.

Longtime O'Neals resident Pat Washburn served as Grand Marshall and Brionna von Ah, 20, of Fresno, was crowned 2013 Rodeo Queen. She was crowned by 2012 queen, Samantha Shier.

Jessie Lee Miles, 13, of Raymond, was crowned Rodeo Princess and Briley Dahlem, 10, of Coarsegold, received the crown for Little Princess.

Rodeo fans had plenty to cheer about during the children's mutton bustin' and the more serious bronc saddle riding, barrel racing, steer wrestling, bronc bareback riding, team roping and the always popular and dangerous bull riding.
