Wild West

-- Staff reportMay 1, 2013

Break-out the Levis and boots and get ready for an authentic American tradition -- The 61st Annual Coarsegold Rodeo gets under way Friday, and runs through Sunday at the Bohna Arena on Raymond Road (415).

Pat Washburn will reign over the three-day event as grand marshal and favorite events include saddle and bronc riding, calf roping, team roping and barrel racing. Cowboys will try their best to stay on a 2,000-pound raging bull for eight seconds Sunday during one of the rodeo's most dangerous events.

Other activities include a Friday night dinner, Exceptional Kids Rodeo and dance Saturday, and Cowboy Pancake Breakfast and Cowboy Church Sunday, along with the crowning of the 2013 rodeo queen.
