DUI accident in stolen car near Yosemite Lakes Park

-- CHPMay 1, 2013

A 45-year-old Fresno woman who crashed in a single-vehicle accident April 24 on Highway 41, north of Yosemite Springs Parkway, was found to have crashed because of "excessive alcohol intoxication," said California Highway Patrol.

A DUI investigation was undertaken and Patricia Blauvelt was placed under arrest for DUI. She received moderate injuries from the crash, and was taken to Madera Community Hospital for treatment.

While at the hospital, it was discovered that the 1995 Honda Civic she was driving was stolen. Upon being cleared for booking by hospital staff, Blauvelt was booked into the Madera County Jail.

Before crashing the vehicle, due to her high level of intoxication, she turned her vehicle to the right while traveling northbound on Highway 41, causing the Honda to cross through the #2 lane of northbound Highway 41, entering a grassy field and colliding with a large group of boulders.
