Exceptional Rodeo

2013 Coarsegold Rodeo

-- Staff reportMay 1, 2013

The Exceptional Kids Rodeo will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Bohna Arena.

The special event is for people with mental and physical handicaps.

Participants will be invited to take center stage in the arena to participate in barrel bucking, calf roping, stick-horse races, and a horseback ride. Coarsegold Cal Fire and rodeo royalty will be on-hand to assist in all the events.

Each participant will receive an official rodeo t-shirt, cowboy hat, bandana, sheriff's badge, and a rodeo medal.

"They always have the rodeo princesses and queens and everyone come down to the arena too to help out and everyone is intent on respecting our young adults and seeing they have a good time and are included in the activities," said Ann Drosche, who will be bringing eight of her children to participate in this year's event.

"The kids enjoy it so much -- They talk about it all year long," Drosche said. "We're grateful that they always think to include us and invite us and we hope that we can do something to repay all the wonderful thoughts and wonderful work they are doing."
