I believe that ever since Adam and Eve were turned out of the Garden of Eden, (yes, I do believe Holy Scripture), mankind has remained pretty much the same. There are folks who strive to do good, folks who strive to do evil, folks who are apathetic to almost everything and those who argue over how much water will flood the valley when the dam breaks.
I'm quite certain that when Nero fiddled as Rome burned there was a faction who argued over whether or not Nero was a good musician and those who swore the fiddle was out of tune. In the meantime, Rome burned down.
I've written many columns over the past 10 years, pointing out the ills and evils associated with our government and have yet to hear an "Amen" from our sociocratic neighbors. If I point out that gasoline costs about the same as it did in 1940, that in fact it's the U.S. dollar that is becoming worthless, I would expect to hear more than a yawn from the folks working for a living. Not a peep. Ya'll must be OK with the current economic situation.
My column of March 28, titled "Entitlement fraud," was answered by my fellow columnist Alan Cheah with a calculator. Fraud be damned, my figures didn't add up for him. He doesn't seem to care one whit whether or not our government has "legally" misused our hard earned money, but whether or not we're talking about $7 or $7 billion dollars. His response seems to be that we all bring our calculators to the table and discuss compound interest. I can only assume that Mr. Cheah is OK with government malfeasance and fraud. He seems to have no concern for the billions our government has wasted or that our debt has tripled under the current administration's incompetence.
During the past presidential election I challenged our mountain Sociocrats to respond to the blatant inconsistencies in what the prevaricator-in-chief said in the past and what he has actually done. Not a peep. I can only conclude that they're OK with Nazi Pelosi when she said "we must pass this bill to find out what's in it." This must be the standard, mindless "compromise" Sociocrats love so much.
Affordable heath care? Really? Keep your doctor and all that jazz, really? Will reduce medical expenses for middle America? Really? Not raise taxes one dime, really? Are you proud?
The recent tragedy in Boston, committed by domestic enemies, proved what our most capable law enforcement agencies can do when given sufficient information; criminals swiftly brought to justice. Then we have fast and furious and Benghazi where Americans were murdered and the needed information is in the hands of our incompetent community organizer in chief. Transparent? Really? Can we please hear another empty campaign speech?
History consistently confirms that socialistic economics is doomed and yet we have highly educated people, obviously not educated in the principles of America, who somehow think that with more taxes we can spend our way out of debt. Really!
It's back to basics folks. If you believe that "all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights," then you're in the right country. If you don't believe in our Creator and you believe that some folks deserve rights over and above the rest of us then you might consider relocating because American patriots will defend our Constitution against all enemies, both foreign and domestic.
Here's what you can expect in response to the above statement: We'll hear about the evils of slavery, how Republicans have been evil debauchers since Darwin's amoeba came ashore, homophobia, racism, bigotry, the failures of the Bush administrations, which founding father did what to whom and Vietnam veterans were baby killers. Yes, we've heard it all. Let's talk about how well da' man in the White House fiddles.
As I said before, ..."all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights." It's our choice. Strive to do good or evil, be totally apathetic until we're enslaved, or place your focus on misguided and misleading information so you can be comrade in chief of your local politburo.
Oh, did I interrupt your nap? Really? Go back to sleep. Baa, baa, baa.
