Badgers split league games with Sierra

The Fowler Redcats pounded out 16 hits and collected eight walks in route to a 14-3 non-league victory at Badger Field Saturday. The Badgers (6-14, 3-6 NSL) managed only five hits in the loss.

Trevor Smith, Brian Woolsey, Stewart Carlson, Carson Conti and Jensen Davis each had a hit for the Badgers. Pitcher Woolsey, a sophomore, had a rough outing giving up eight runs on 12 hits in four innings to take the loss. Sophomore Tyler McIntyre gave up six runs (three earned) on four hits in three innings of relief.

Badgers blow five run lead

The Sierra High Chieftains racked up 14 hits in a come from behind victory over Yosemite at Badger Field last Friday. Trailing 5-0, Sierra, put up three runs in the third and four in the fourth to take a lead they would never relinquish as they defeated the Badgers 9-7.

Evan Diehl had three hits for Yosemite. Jarrett Barone and Grady Eaton had two hits each for the Badgers with Carlson, Dillon Moran, Trevor Smith, and freshman Brian Woolsey collecting a hit.

Eaton pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up seven runs (5 earned) to pick up the loss. Conti went 3 2/3 innings allowing two runs (one earned) in relief.

Carlson goes 4 for 4 in Badger win

Carlson, the Badger's catcher, went 4 for 4 while driving in two runs to lead the Badgers over the Chieftains 7-3 in Auberry April 16.

Dillon Moran pitched a three hitter to pick up the victory improving his record to 3-4.

Yosemite jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning. With one out, Eaton doubled. Carlson, who leads the Badgers with a .457 batting average, drove him home with a single to left. An error by the Sierra second baseman off the bat of Joey Woolsey allowed Carlson to score.

The Badgers made it 3-0 in the third. Eaton led off with a double. Carlson followed with a single to drive him in, for his 11th RBI of the season. The score remained 3-0 until the fifth when Sierra picked up two unearned runs to close the gap to 3-2.

In the sixth, Yosemite put together three hits with a walk, to increase the lead to 5-2. With one out Tyler McIntyre singled. Evan Diehl followed with a single to put runners on first and third. After a sacrifice and a walk, Jarrett Barone singled to drive in two.

Sierra added another unearned run in the bottom half of the inning to make it 5-3.

Yosemite closed out the scoring in the seventh with four consecutive singles, including Trevor Smith's first varsity hit, pushed across the final two runs.

Singles by McIntyre and Joey Woolsey drove in the runs. Besides Carlson's 4 for 4 day, Badgers picking up two hits were McIntyre, Diehl, and Eaton with two doubles.

Badger JV team sweeps Sierra

The Badgers put together their first winning streak of the season by defeating Sierra 10-3 Tuesday and 8-5 on Friday. Fowler came to town Friday and defeated the Badgers 9-0.

Michael Silva and Dillon McCully picked up the wins against Sierra. Dillon Lopez pitched in relief in both games. In the second game he picked up his first save. North Tuso led the Badgers at the plate going 4-8 with a triple for the week. Logan Szabaldi added a couple of hits last week. Also providing offense were Devon Lee with a double and a RBI, Brendan Atchison and Dillon Lopez with hits and RBI.

The Badgers face Washington Union at home on Friday afternoon.
