Olivera has 'perfect' game against Badgers

April 17, 2013

Kerman (13-8, 2-0) softball pitcher Giana Olivera didn't plan anything special taking the mound against Yosemite High (7-5, 0-2) April 11. Seven innings later the senior walked off the Badger diamond with a "perfect," game added to her resume. Not a single Badger made it to first base in Kerman's 1-0 league win.

Not only did Olivera have her first ever perfect game as a pitcher, it was her double in the top of the sixth inning that drove in teammate Wesania Gastelun for the game's only run.

"I just stayed relaxed during the game and had plenty of trust in my teammates behind me," Olivera said after the game. "I was blessed to get a perfect game."

The Badgers continue league play Friday at Chowchilla. The team hosts Washington Union at 4 p.m. April 23 and Liberty visits Yosemite for a 4 p.m. game on April 26.
