Drunk driving arrest following crash

-- CHPApril 10, 2013

Debra K. Wilcox, 50, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol following a single vehicle accident in OakhurstMarch 31. That night, Wilcox, a resident of Oakhurst, was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado truck northbound on Highway 41, north of Golden Oak Loop, at an unknown rate of speed when she entered into a gradual left hand turn in the roadway. Due to her excessive level of intoxication, she was unable to safely negotiate the curve and the Silverado drifted onto the right shoulder and collided with a raised curb. The Silverado continued in a northeasterly direction down an embankment and collided into two trees and a metal pole. The Silverado came to a rest, facing a westerly direction, at the bottom in the H&L Lumber parking lot.

Wilcox was extricated from the truck and transported to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno with major injuries. The collision remains under investigation.
