Victory was golden for Emerson Action, 10, of Ahwahnee as she won two gold medals March 9 and 10 at the 2013 Silver Ski Slalom event at Badger Pass. The victories clinched Action first place in points to become the Far West Central Series Champion in the girls under 10 division and making her the first series champion from the Yosemite Ski Team in over half a decade.
The team performed extremely well at the event winning a total of 16 medals, the most ever at an event in the last five years of competition. Five gold medals by the team were won by Action (2), Lola Beams, 8, Adalie Waltner, 7, and first time racer Jackson Tarnay, 6. All of the team's under 10 girls won medals.
Other first time racers include Dominic Hughes, Marian McDaniel and David Ross.
The historic Yosemite Winter Club hosted the event, with more than 100 young ski racers ages 6 to 15 for the last race of the Central Series season. The 'home' team had a great day against teams representing Dodge Ridge, Bear Valley, China Peak, Squaw Valley, Heavenly, Kirkwood and Alpine Meadows.
