Sisters provide 60 years of service to Sierra Tel

-- Staff ReportApril 3, 2013

Sierra Telephone held a retirement party March 28, in honor of Joy Howard-Higgins, who worked for the company for 20 years. Her most recent position with the company was in operator services.

Her two sisters, Dannie Howard-Forbes and Peggy Howard-Davis, also served the company for 20 years before retiring in 2009 and 2005, respectively.

Dannie retired as administrative assistant to company owner Harry Baker and Peggy retired as manager of operator services.

When Joy first went to work for the company, there were fewer than 100 employees. Although the company now employees more than 300, she said the company has not changed its policy of caring for its employees.

"I feel privileged to have worked for this great company and with some extraordinary people for 20 years," Joy said. "My sisters and I made many life-long friendships with our fellow employees over the years. As excited as I am to retire, I will certainly miss many of the employees here."
