The Yosemite High School golf team won its second North Sequoia League tournament March 20 at Madera Muni. on March 20. The Badgers scored 182 to Kerman's 178.
Chowchilla came in third in the six team field with 145 points.
Kevin Lauterbach of Yosemite was medalist with an even par 36 which resulted in 45 points for the team.
The Badgers are shooting for a team goal of 200 points. So far, their highest score this season has been 187.
According to coach Reg Turner, points are awarded where an eagle earns 10 points, birdie seven, par five, bogies three, doubles two and triples receive one point.
Players higher than a triple bogie on any given hole pick up for zero points.
"The "Stableford" scoring format speeds up play as well as possibly saving some player stress resulting from a high score," Turner said.
Yosemite is hoping to continue their drive for back-to-back NSL championships in two weeks at Pheasant Run in Chowchilla.
"We have an extra week with Easter to work on our chipping and putting," Turner said. "Our ball striking has been pretty good but we are losing alot of strokes on and around the greens. We are a much better team than we were last year, but there is still room to improve. This team has set some high standards for themselves and are putting forth a good effort to reach those goals."
