Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite will honor Earth Hour with a weekend of eco-experiences. Organized by the World Wildlife Fund, Earth Hour has grown from a single-city initiative into a global movement to inspire people to join together to show their concern for the future of the planet. EarthHour will be celebrated worldwide from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m., Sat., March 23.
Tenaya Lodge will celebrate Earth Hour by encouraging guests to shut off the lights in their rooms and head to the lobby for special Earth Hour events. In addition, the lodge will shut off any non-essential lighting on the premises. Tenaya Lodge will also celebrate Earth Hour with fun guest activities including:
Lantern Project Workshop: From 4 to 6 p.m., guests are invited to join Tenaya Lodge associates to make lanterns that will illuminate the lobby during Earth Hour.
Lantern Lighting: When the lights go off for Earth Hour from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m., the lanterns created in the workshop will illuminate the lobby.
Cooking with Sustainable Food: From 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. in the lobby, Executive Chef Frederick Clabaugh CCC will demonstrate cooking with sustainable ingredients and provide tastes for guests.
Sierra Restaurant and Jackalopes Bar & Grill will present organic and sustainable menu specials throughout the weekend.
