A 19-year old Madera man died from a wound he sustained during a drive-by shooting near Avenue 13 ½ and Cronin Street Thursday, March 21. Deputies responded to reports of a man being shot shortly before 10 p.m. The victim, later identified as Robert Moreno III, was still alive when deputies arrived on scene. It is not known at this time why Moreno was the target. The only information detectives have released is the color and possible make of the car believed to be involved. The car is described as a baby blue four-door Honda Accord with stock rims. It was heading east on 13 ½ as the victim was walking west toward the neighborhood mini-mart, Bill’s Kwik Stop. As the vehicle drove by, a shot was fired, striking Moreno. Anyone who may have information is urged to call either the Madera County Sheriff’s Office at (559) 675-7770 or Crime Stoppers at 498-STOP. An anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers that leads to the apprehension of the person responsible for the shooting death of Robert Moreno could be worth up to a $1,000.
