Sports Brief for 3/21/13

The Yosemite High Badger tennis team finished their preseason schedule with a convincing 6 - 3 victory over Fresno High on March 13 and open North Sequoia League play this week.

Mike Neff, Matt Whitecotten, Aaron Bausch and Jordan Rose won their singles matches against Fresno High and Neff and Whitecotten dominated in their doubles match. Sam Devito and Craig Stieler also won their doubles match.

"The team is steadily improving and coach Eames has brought a renewed intensity to our doubles teams, which we think will be a strength of our team this year," said coach Stan Lawrence.

League play started Tuesday with a match at Chowchilla and Liberty visits Yosemite today (March 21 - 3:30 p.m.).

"Senior dominated Liberty High appears to be the favorite in league with an undefeated record so far this season," Lawrence said. "We had a mutual opponent with Liberty and our result was similar, so we will be competitive with them, I am sure."
