13 awards for Ski Team

-- Yosemite Ski TeamMarch 20, 2013

The Yosemite Ski Team won 13 awards at the China Peak Super-G and Giant Slalom races held Feb. 23 and 24.

Will Fontana of Coulterville won a gold medal Super-G in boys Under 16 division. The Super-G is the longest and fastest race of the season. Fontana's first and second place victories are outstanding because he has been racing for only the last two seasons, while most of his competition has been racing for four seasons or more.

Emerson Action of Ahwahnee, raced so fast in the girls under 10 division she caught the girl racing in front of her, and consequently slowed down to allow her time to be recorded.

Adalie Waltner, 7, of Bass Lake, the youngest member of the team, had two fourth place finishes in the girls Under 10 division, competing against girls two years older than her.
