Jannice Aguilar, 39, of Oakhurst, was convicted of felony cruelty to animals last week in the Sierra Division of the Madera Superior Court at Bass Lake, according to Madera County District Attorney Michael Keitz.

The charge was previously filed against Aguilar after she was observed holding a small puppy on the ground and punching it repeatedly with her fist until its eye was dislocated from its socket on Aug. 29, 2012 in Oakhurst.

The Superior Court set sentencing in the Sierra Division for April 9.
