Donald "Don" M. Hansen died Jan. 27, 2013, at the age of 93.
Mr. Hansen was a resident of Oakhurst for 21 years and purchased his Oakhurst ranch in 1972, nine years before his move to the area.
He was born July 14, 1919 in Atlantic, Iowa to Chris J. and Nettie F. Hansen.
Mr. Hansen worked as a soil conservationist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Santa Barbara, Santa Maria and Moorpark; as a surveyor in Riverside; and as a livestock and grain farmer in Atlantic, Iowa.
He enjoyed serving Christ and others, gardening, ranching, reading, traveling with his wife, and working as a handyman.
Mr. Hansen served at First Presbyterian Church in Santa Barbara, Sierra Vista Presbyterian Church in Oakhurst, and at Roseville Presbyterian Church in Roseville as a church elder, Bible study leader, and volunteer coffee maker, dish washer, gardener and handyman. He served as a Young Life leader and committee member for many years in both Santa Barbara and Oakhurst.
He was preceded in death by wife Barbara M. Hansen; sister Gloria Hansen; brothers Gail and Wayne Hansen; and his parents.
Mr. Hansen is survived by daughters Heidi H. Robertson of Oakhurst, and Rebecca L. Hansen of San Jose; and sisters-in-law Pat Hansen of Wisconsin, Helen Hansen of Riverside, and Lorna Miller of Wisconsin.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 16, at Sierra Vista Presbyterian Church, 39696 Highway 41, Oakhurst.
