Edmund Wilbur Moore died Feb. 21, 2013, at the age of 76.
Mr. Moore was a resident of Oakhurst for more than 50 years.
He was born March 15, 1936.
Mr. Moore retired as an electronic engineer. He worked for Sierra Telephone in Oakhurst; as central office supervisor at Ponderosa Telephone in O'Neals; and for 20 years at Dantel, Inc. in Fresno, where he invented and patented a fiber-optic self-healing ring for telecommunications.
Formerly, he helped build many large subdivisions in the Oakhurst and Ahwahnee areas through Moore Construction Company, owned by his family, and he worked as a crane operator on Tioga Pass (Highway 120 East).
He was preceded in death by daughter Debra Moore-Shelton; great-granddaughter Charlize Shelton; and brother Glen Moore.
Mr. Moore is survived by wife of 57 years, Shirley Moore; son Ed Moore, Jr. and wife Dora; daughters Denise Judd and husband Kenny, and Darlene Herr and husband Johnny, all of Oakhurst; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister Marilyn Venden of Washington.
Memorial services were held March 9 at the Oakhurst Seventh-day Adventist Church.
