2013 Business of the Year

Last week the Oakhurst Sierra (Noon) Rotary Club announced Oakhurst Giftworks and Frameworks as the 2013 Business of the Year and honored owners Sue and Randy Graham with a desk clock and a check for $250 to donate to their favorite charity -- Soroptimist International of the Sierra.

"I'm thrilled," Sue said. "I was very surprised and pleased and what made me the happiest is I felt it was an award from my piers -- other people in the business community that know what it takes to keep a business alive. We want to thank the rotarians and the community for this great honor."

The Grahams opened their business in July 4, 1982 near the corner of Highway 41 and Crane Valley Road (426). Six years ago, Randy outgrew that location and relocated his business right down the street to the Oakhurst Shopping Center.

Sue said the keys to staying in business for almost 31 years is a lot of hard work, perseverance, German work ethic, always sticking to your store hours, good customer service and helping support the community.

"Sue and Randy represent the fortitude of the independent small businesses in the community that prevail despite the economic's facing all small business," said Doug Macaulay, rotary president. "Not only are they continuing to be a successful business commercially, they give back to the community through their philanthropic efforts. Normally not with fanfare, but certainly with a determination to create a better community for all."
