A man was pronounced dead Jan. 30 in Yosemite Lakes Park in Coarsegold after a vehicle he was working on that evening crushed him, resulting in fatal, traumatic injuries.
It is suspected that a car jack holding up the vehicle slipped, causing the vehicle to fall upon him as he worked underneath it. A neighbor reportedly helped jack up the vehicle off the man as emergency responders were called.
Firefighters from Station 10 and Coarsegold Cal Fire arrived on scene, along with security from Yosemite Lakes Park, and the Madera County Sheriff's Office.
