Sharp shooters advance to district

North Fork's Samuel Burnheimer showed the free throw shooting skill that earned him the title of state champion (age 11 division) in last year's Knights of Columbus free throw competition, as he made 15 for 15 shots at the Jan. 27 contest at Yosemite High School.

The top shooters in each boys and girls age division received a $10 McDonalds gift card, a certificate and T-shirt.

Girls and boys winners by age divisions were:

Age 10: Keylee Andersen and Jackson Thearle.

Age 11: Owen Elliott.

Age 12: Hailey Rich and Samuel Burnheimer.

Age 13: Taylor Schaeffer and Trevor Peter.

Age 14: Kristen Engstrom and Tristan Eames.

Winners will compete Saturday at the district tournament at Our Lady of Victory Elementary School in Fresno.
