Coarsegold mobile home burns
A mobile home fire Jan. 23 off Raymond Road (415) on City View Drive in Coarsegold destroyed the structure and a 2005 Honda Elantra on the property -- resulting in about $120,000 in losses. The resident, 58-year-old Lynette Canceleno, was also transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation by emergency medical personnel, said incident commander Captain Shaun Fairbanks, who responded first on scene with a Coarsegold Cal Fire engine.
The fire is believed to have started as a cooking fire in the kitchen at about 12:30 p.m. A healthcare nurse, who had come to check on Canceleno, noticed the smoke and fire near the rear of the home, and assisted Canceleno in getting out of the house, Fairbanks said.
"The trouble with mobile homes is they are really light weight, and they are pretty heavily fuel-loaded," Fairbanks said of how quickly the structure became fully engulfed by flames.
Electric heaters plugged in all over the home could have also been a factor in the fire, Fairbanks said.
The last group of firefighters left the scene at about 6:30 p.m. after ensuring the fire would not rekindle, Fairbanks said. Many Mountain Area firefighters helped extinguish the blaze, including those driving Engine 4295 (Coarsegold), Engine 8 (Indian Lakes Park), Engine 12 (Oakhurst), Engine 4255 (Ahwahnee), Engine 4284 (Raymond), Squad 10 (Yosemite Lakes Park), Water Tender 13 (Coarsegold), Breathing Support 14 (Bass Lake), and Battalion 4212.
