Dear Editor,

As parents of kids who are members of the Oakhurst Boys & Girls Club, we were pleased to hear of the grant for "permanent" bathrooms at the club from Chukchansi.

Unfortunately, the "permanent" facilities look in such disrepair, it appears the job is half done. The $80,000 grant has left walkways held up by rusted steel, toilets that might be called functional. But most of us would consider them substandard for our own homes, inadequate plumbing and dark, dingy stalls.

We didn't see any Chukchansi representatives at the open house hosted by the club's board members on Jan. 15. If they actually saw the end product, would they really be pleased with their name, and money, behind the project? We don't think so.
