James R. Gray died Jan. 19, 2013, at the age of 90.
Mr. Gray was a resident of Oakhurst for 30 years.
He was born April 30, 1922 in Selma to Jimmy D. and Louise A. (Eidt) Gray.
Mr. Gray served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, stationed in the South Pacific, from 1942 to 1945.
He owned grocery stores in Fresno, Figarden and Raisin before retiring in 1982 to travel.
Mr. Gray was preceded in death by his parents; wife H. Joan (Gilbert) Gray; sisters Mary Miller and Lila Chapin of California; uncle Dr. (Rev.) C. Raymond Gray of Texas; aunt S. Lila (Gray) Wynne of Texas; brother-in-laws Kenneth Miller of Oregon, Gerald Ream of Idaho, Howard Nash and Maurice Chapin of California; and sister-in-laws Delores Gilbert of Arizona and Karen (Gilbert) Ream of Idaho.
He is survived by daughters Janice of Idaho, and Julie and husband Fidel Perez of Fresno; grandsons James of Kansas, and Anthony and wife Kristine of Hawaii; companion Retha Collins and her sons -- John and wife Ruby and family of California, Joda and wife Laura and family of Florida, and Randy and wife Ruth of California -- sister Mildred Nash of Selma; brother-in-law Fred Gilbert of Washington; and numerous nephews and nieces.
No funeral services will be held. He will be buried at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella.
