Liberty beats Badger wrestlers 43-22

Pins by Yosemite High wrestlers Mike Waybright (120 pounds) and PJ Reyna (145 pounds) and a 12-3 decision by Cameron Simonsen (171 pounds) was not enough for the Badgers to overcome four forfeits in a 43-22 home loss to Liberty High Jan. 17.

The loss gives the Badgers an 0-4 record in the North Sequoia League. Liberty evened their league record at 2-2 while defending NSL Champion Washington Union sits atop the league standings at 4-0.

Waybright pinned Jonah Postlewait in the first round and Reyna also pinned his opponent, Johnny Facinto, in the first round.

In other matches, Yosemite's Bravehart Sauced (170 pounds) was pinned in the first period by Liberty's Peter Flores and the Badger's Matthew Horton (106 pounds) was pinned by Jackson Watts.

Badgers losing by decisions were Hyspirit Bonillas (122 pounds), 3-0, to Zachary Rose and Matthew Springer (134 pounds), 11-3, to Jonah Facinto.

The team hosts Sierra at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 31.
