William Eugene Simms died Dec. 28, 2012, at the age of 82.

Mr. Simms was a resident of Ahwahnee for 48 years.

He was born Jan. 5, 1930 in Brizeta, N.M.

Mr. Simms retired from the lumber industry.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Mr. Simms served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953.

He was preceded in death by wife Josephine Simms and son Steve Simms.

Mr. Simms is survived by son Roger E. Simms; brother Donald Simms of Ahwahnee; sister Margaret Frisbie of Visalia; grandchildren Dallas Simms of Ahwahnee, Chantelle Aukee of Firestone, Colo., Colby Simms of Atwater and Kaitlin Simms of Madera; and five great-grandchildren.
