New column -- 'Ponder This ...'

January 10, 2013

"Ponder This ...," a new column debuting in today's Sierra Star is written by Oakhurst native and 1986 Yosemite High School graduate Tawny Williams. Williams, 44, is the daughter of the late prominent Mountain Area contractor Scott E. Williams and Barbara, a commissioned artist and fashion designer. Her sister, Sharlene, owns the Hitching Post in Ahwahnee

Williams, the fourth generation of her family to live in Oakhurst, will write under the byline of T.R. Williams.

After leaving the area to go to college, she returned to Oakhurst in 2007, building a home with her husband Britt, in Ahwahnee.

"When first presented the idea of penning a column for our home town paper, I struggled to find the perfect title," Williams said. "The notion of having the title of my column define me, or possibly confine me, made me cringe. When contemplating what I desired to write about, I honestly couldn't narrow it down to one particular subject. It seems near impossible with all there is in the world that inspires me. I thought about it for days before realizing the answer was starring me in the face ... 'Ponder This.'

Williams said she hopes through her written words, others might discover, relate, find entertainment, laugh, ponder, and even possibly, debate.

"As I embark on this journey, I hope that you will come along for the ride," Williams said. "I look forward to exploring a plethora of subjects, ideas, ideals and interesting topics."
