Giving up 30 points for five forfeited matches, the Yosemite High wrestling team lost its first nonleague dual meet of the season to Mariposa 54-36 Dec. 12.
Four Yosemite wrestlers won their matches by pins: Mike Waybright (126 pounds), Issac Solis (132), Elisha Soliz (138) and P.J. Reyna (152).
Yosemite's Hyspirit Bonillas (113), Erik Johnson (145), Braveheart Sauceda (195) and Hugh Reid (220) lost their matches by pins.
The weights Yosemite forfeited in were 160, 170, 182,105 and heavyweight.
"Our annual match with Mariposa is always a lot of fun" coach Kent Lincoln said. "They have a program very similar to ours and every year the match is very competitive."
The team will be at Washington Union on Jan. 3. The Badgers will then have three 6 p.m. matches at home hosting Kerman (Jan. 10), Liberty (Jan. 17) and Sierra (Jan. 31).
"Our coaching staff and the athletes are working hard and looking forward to the upcoming league matches and post season competition," Lincoln said.
The North Sequoia League championships will be held Saturday, Feb. 9 at Liberty High in Madera Ranchos.
