Michael and Michelle Niewohner celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary Nov. 28.
They were married Thanksgiving weekend in 1987 in Oakhurst by Michelle's aunt Carly and uncle Peter, who are ordained ministers in the Presbyterian church.
Michael moved to the mountains with his family in 1976. He attended Oakhurst Elementary School and graduated from Yosemite High School in 1982.
Michelle and her family moved to the area in 1979, where she attended Coarsegold Elementary School and went on to graduate from YHS in 1986.
They met through mutual friends and their friendship developed before their romance did. Michelle was 19 and Michael was 23 when they were married.
Michael is a fire captain with Cal Fire and Michelle works part-time for the Sierra Star. They have one daughter, Teagan, who is 6 and in the first grade at North Fork Elementary School.
The family likes to travel, take walks, enjoy the outdoors and watch movies. Michael and Teagan enjoy playing soccer and Michelle enjoys her monthly Bunco games. They are long-time members of Oakhurst Lutheran Church.
The couple will be celebrating their anniversary at a later date, with a family trip to Disneyland.
