Avis Mae Punkin died Nov. 9, 2012, at the age of 75.

Mrs. Punkin was a resident of North Fork for 75 years.

She was born Dec. 29, 1936 in North Fork.

Mrs. Punkin worked for the North Fork Rancheria of Mono Indians.

She volunteered with numerous community service projects throughout her life.

Mrs. Punkin enjoyed spending time with her family, gathering materials to make Indian baskets, crocheting, knitting, beadwork and playing Bingo.

She is survived by husband of 51 years, Herbert Punkin; and children Dale Tex, Susie Lavell, Timothy Punkin, Tamera Gonzales and Gwendolyn Punkin.

A memorial service was held Nov. 16 at Jay Chapel in Madera, followed by a graveside service at the North Fork Cemetery.
