Get in the holiday spirit on the county wine trail this weekend

The Madera Vintners Association's family wineries present the Madera Wine Trail's "Holiday Spirit Weekend" from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 10 and 11. Twelve wineries will be participating in the two-day event.

Sample a wide variety of local award-winning wines, from aperitif to dessert, old-world styles to the latest in wine-making technology. There will also be holiday gift shopping, art, live music and delicious food. Participating wineries will have a large selection of wines to choose from and many will have special pricing on Holiday Spirit Weekend.

Madera Wine Trail Passport Glasses, your pass to free wine tasting asll weekend long, are available for $35 from any participating wineries both days of the event.

Pre-sale tickets are available for $25 and may be purchased at Idle Hour Winery in Oakhurst through Nov. 9.

Designated drivers are free of charge and can pick up a VIP kit at their first stop on the trail.

Participating Wineries include:

Birdstone Winery -- 2012 Winery of the Year - 9400 Road 36, Madera, (559) 645-1825,

Birdstone will showcase two newly released wines alongside the existing flight of award winning wines. For lunch each day, enjoy a delicious dish of Raviolis Crema Marinara, a Ceasar Parmesan Salad and Garlic Brushetta prepared by Chef Michael Mazzoni.

Chateau Lasgoity -- 11219 Road 26, Madera, (559) 674-8291,

Chateau Lasgoity Winery will have major discounts on 2009 vintages. Lunch will be available for purchase by Full-O-Bull deli of Madera. The Vintage Barn will showcase hand crafted aprons, table linens and furniture. Big Paw's infused olive oils will be available to sample.

Fasi Estate Winery -- 42415 Road 208, O'Neals, (559) 822-2111,

The new to the wine trail winery specializes in Syrah of premium quality, made from estate grown, selected grapes. Off Highway 41 on Road 208.

Ficklin Vineyards -- 30246 Avenue 7 ½, Madera, (559) 661-0075,

Ficklin Vineyards will have an assortment gourmet food vendors providing samples of their tasty treats to pair with Ficklin's ports and table wines. Visit The Cupcake Lady's hot pink mobile bakery truck 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. both days.

Idle Hour Winery -- 41139 Highway 41, Oakhurst, (559) 760-9090,

Stock up on your holiday wines during Idle Hour's Fall wine sale and pick up a pair or two of warm Alpaca socks or a sweater from KT Lee Ranch Alpacas. Meet the Alpacas and local artists and relax with live music.

Pacific Crest is new on the trail, so will be featuring new products such as premium wines and gourmet vinegar.

Papagni Wines -- 9505 Road 30 ½, Madera, (559) 673-5754,

Enjoy a winery tour of barrel cellar fermentation tanks and crush pad. They will be pouring their gold medal winning Alicante Bouschet and all their other medal winning wines.

Quady Winery -- 13181 Road 24, Madera, (800) 733-8068,

Quady is the only winery specializing in herb enhanced aperitifs and muscat wines. Hang out in the "Sports Port" lounge with assistant winemaker Darin Peterson as he guides guests on a tasting. Joel Lopez of Perfect Blend Fine Cigars will help guests find the perfect cigar from his selection. Petrucci's BBQ will be grilling tri tip for sandwiches for lunch.

San Joaquin Wine Company -- 21801 Avenue 16, Madera, (559) 673-0066,

Vendors will include Miner's Mix Seasonings, RC Gourmet Cheeseballs and You Sweet Thing Jams and Jellies. Lunch will be offered from Dave's Western BBQ and music from Rhythm Review Band.

Westbrook Wine Farm will offer their hand-crafted wines to only 60 wine lovers each day. Experience Uber Rhenish Dry Riesling, complex Savvy Sauvignon Blanc, rich Chardonnay, heady Viognier along with Cabernet Sauvignon Clone 4, brooding Petite Sirah and Malmsey Dearest.
