The Yosemite High School 45-member marching band, placed second Oct. 27 in the AA Division of the 48th Annual Selma Band Review, missing first place by 1.1 points to Central High. The Selma event is one of the largest high school band competitions in Central California.
Yosemite Music Department Director Randy Hyatt said band members worked hard preparing for the competition and their performance exceeded his expectations.
The band will join forces with the Sierra High band at Badger Stadium for a special pre-game presentation at Friday's football game. The band will present a patriotic salute to Veterans at half time.
On Saturday, the band will participate in Band Day along with 25 other high school bands from the Central Valley during half time of the 4 p.m. Fresno State - Hawaii football game and will participate in the 11 a.m., Nov. 11 Veterans' s Parade in Fresno.
