Marjorie Jane Jackson died Oct. 6, 2012, at the age of 86.
Mrs. Jackson was a resident of Coarsegold for 38 years.
She was born Nov. 23, 1929 in Southern California.
Mrs. Jackson worked for The Santa Ana Register, Orange Daily News and The Daily Pilot newspapers.
She was instrumental in establishing the Coarsegold Historical Society and was a leader, charter member and historian for the group. When the society purchased the present-day Coarsegold Museum property in 1991, she became museum director and later established its research library.
Mrs. Jackson was instrumental in interviewing, editing and producing the society's "As We Were Told, Vol. I" in 1990 and was also the impetus behind the publishing of "As We Were Told, Vol. II" in 2009.
She enjoyed vacationing in the desert, learning new things, spending time with her grandchildren, playing games, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, going on walks, socializing at the Grandmothers' Club and playing Canasta with her friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 29 in the Coarsegold Community Bible Church, 44934 Road 415, Coarsegold.
