Ronald James Currence died Sept. 10, 2012, at the age of 71.
Mr. Currence was a resident of Coarsegold for 23 years.
He was born Sept. 10, 1941 in Nampa, Idaho.
Mr. Currence worked as a land surveyor and served in the U.S. Army's 101st Airborne Division in the Vietnam War, where he helped maintain helicopters.
He enjoyed flying, piloting gliders, hiking with friends and exploring the John Muir wilderness.
Mr. Currence is survived by brother Terry Currence of Monterey and sister Catherine Horsley of Sonora
A recognition service will be held at noon, Oct. 21 at his Polk Road property in Coarsegold, located one mile east of Highway 415.
