The Minarets volleyball (14-9, 3-1) winning streak came to an end Oct. 9 as the Mustangs were defeated in West Sequoia League play by Fowler in three games, 25-22, 25-11, 25-21.
Bre Cairns had 8 kills, Taylor Meyer had 13 assists and Katie Grant had 8 digs.
The team got back on the winning track Oct. 11 by beating Fresno Christian at home, 25-18, 25-15, 25-20.
Grant had five stuff blocks and 16 digs, Meyer had 24 assists and 4 aces and Jordan Smith had 11 kills.
The team participated in the Oct. 12 and 13 Hoover Tournament, losing to Hoover 25-14, 25-23 and beating Div. II Tulare Union by winning the first and third games 25-21 and 15-6 after dropping the second game 25-23.
Against Hoover, Smith had 5 kills and 6 digs and Meyer had 11 assists and 4 aces.
Against Tulare Union, Cairns had 9 kills, Grant had 12 digs and Meyer had 18 assists.
The Mustangs lost to Ridgeview 25-17, 25-17 in game three of the tournament. Smith had 13 digs and 5 kills and Grant had 6 blocks and 5 digs. Meyer had 11 assists.
In bracket play, the team lost to Reedley in three games. The first game Reedley won 25-4, but the Mustangs came back to win the second game 25-19, before losing the third game 15-6. Smith, Cairns and Grant had 11 digs, with Cairns adding 4 kills along with Meyer's 11 assists and two blocked each from Grant and Cairns.
The loss put the Mustangs on the consolation side of the bracket where they lost a one game elimination match to Madera South, 25-23.
The team played Parlier Tuesday and are home tonight (Thursday) for the breast cancer awareness Dig Pink match against Fowler.
