Dear Editor,
Wouldn't it be nice if we could all have a job like this?
You get paid a decent salary but not, it seems, enough for food, so you get a daily per diem just for showing up.
You get the best medical care, your own private gym and swimming pool plus a "company" car. You get wined and dined by people with a lot of money -- quite a bit of which they give to you, plus an occasional all-expense-paid vacation. Nothing is getting done at the job, but you can't blame the "other guy" for that.
The people who hired you are upset but you simply shake their hand, tell them what you think they want to hear -- truth or not -- and blame the "other guy" for not getting anything done.
You know you have an inbox full of things that need to be handled but you decide you really need a vacation, so you take off the month of August while still receiving salary and per diem.
You come back in September for a couple weeks but the "other guy" is still not doing things the way you want them done, so you forget about your inbox and take off another seven weeks just to wait and see what happens with the head of the "company."
Sounds like a great job? Welcome to Congress
