Unauthorized signs

Letter to the editor for 10/10/12 edition of the Sierra Star

Dear Editor,

It is said that character is defined as doing the right thing even when no one is looking.

It's an election year and certain "characters" are certainly going to be weighed and measured.

I understand that our Madera Wine Trail sign on Highway 99 is not the only venue in Madera County on which unauthorized political banners have been placed by Mr. Oller's crews. There are probably others but this one is possibly the most egregious in its disrespect.

Evidently, there have been placements on public school properties and on private rural property along Highway 41 near the Ranchos, too. In my opinion, such blatant disrespect for propriety, property rights and prospective advantage does not bode well for any candidate's ethics.

Residents and custodians of public property should be informed that they may remove and dispose of any unauthorized political signs at will.
