Jean Chaffee of Fresno's Chaffee Zoo will make presentations to children on Oct. 10 at 1:45 p.m. at the Oakhurst Library and at 3:30 p.m. at the North Fork Library.
Chaffee spent 28 years in education as a teacher and K-8 principal. She became involved in the zoo after her marriage to Dr. Paul Chaffee in 1987.
She has been a zoo docent for 22 years and has given nearly 100 talks throughout the Central Valley to civic organizations and schools.
As the widow of Paul Chaffee, she became interested in the 100-year history of the zoo. Her research has resulted in seven children's books including "Nosey the Elephant" and "Moja the Lion Goes to the Dentist." The stories are based on true accountings of the animals.
